Case Maps
The
map cases are on the third level of the library, down one level from the main
floor. As you descend the main stairwell, bear left.
USGS Topo Index/Ordering Use the USGS Store to locate maps by clicking on "Enter USGS Store," then clicking on the "Map Locator" image in the store to help you find a map.
7.5-minute 1:24,000-scale topographic quadrangles - (case 8, drawers 1-11) - best known, most widely-used large-scale series.
15-minute 1:50,000-scale topographic quadrangles - (case 11, drawer 7) - this series is "dead", or discontinued.
15-minute 1:62,500-scale topographic quadrangles - (case 11, drawer 13) - older maps.
30 x 60 minute 1:100,000-scale quadrangles - (case 13, drawer 9) - we have coverage of nearly the entire U.S. in this intermediate-scale topographic series. Interfiled is a BLM series showing surface management and surface-minerals management status; part of the Topographic Special series.
30 minute 1:125,000-scale series - (case 15, drawer 2) - older maps.
U. S. Series (topographic, 1:250,000) - (case 15, drawer 6) - small-scale maps covering the U.S., 1 degree x 2-degree; part of the Topographic Special series.
State Map Series (planimetric, 1:500,000) - (case 15, drawer 10) - separate 1:500,000-scale maps for each state, published on one sheet if possible. A few smaller states are combined; part of the Topographic Special series.
State Map Series (topographic, 1:500,000) - (case 15, drawer 11) - separate 1:500,000-scale maps for each state; part of the Topographic Special series.
State Map series (shaded relief, 1:500,000) - (case 15, drawer 12) - These maps are scaled 1:500,000, except for Alaska, and are a modified version of the planimetric edition; part of the Topographic Special series.
