Did you lose something?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

It’s that time of year when you need a jacket or sweatshirt in the morning, but by afternoon it’s hot. So you take it off and often leave it somewhere. Plus there’s all the STUFF we carry with us; cell phones, calculators, usb drives, umbrellas, etc. Where do you look if you think you’ve lost something in the library?

The Circulation Desk is home base for all lost and found items. If you find something, take it there. If you’ve lost something, check there first!

Try to put you name on anything and everything you carry with you. The nice people at the Circulation Desk will try to contact you and let you know they have your lost stuff.

Anything you want to tell us?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Well, we want to hear it! And here’s how you do it. Go to our online Suggestion Box and vent or compliment to your heart’s content. The suggestions can be anonymous; but if you’d like a reply, fill out the form with your information and someone will be in touch.

We also have an old school, paper suggestion box in the lobby of Cooper.

Use either or them. Or both. We’d love to know what you think!

The CCIT laser printer on the east side of the 5th floor is back and in working order.

Cooper East Printer Down

Monday, October 26th, 2009

The laser printer on the east side of Cooper (not the Java City side) is down. It’s so broken that CCIT is coming over to pick it up. We do NOT know when it will be repaired or if there will be a replacement.

The laser printer on the west side of Cooper (the Java City side) should be working.

Color and 4th Floor printers down briefly

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

There will be an upgrade to Pharos, the library pay-for-print system, on Wednesday starting at 1pm. This will only affect the black and white printer with the group of 20 computers on the 4th floor and the color printer on the 5th floor near the Computer Help Desk.

The upgrade should only take about an hour. Remember, Clemson students can print for free at the CCIT computers on the 5th floor. There’s a laser printer on each side of the floor.

We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

Can I get cash from Interlibrary Loan?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

No, it’s not that kind of loan; but you can get books and articles. If the Clemson University Libraries do not have a book or article that you need, just fill out an ILL form and we’ll get it for you.

Read all about how to get materials on ILL here.

Be sure and pay close attention the section on textbooks. We can’t get those!

New Databases (Careers)

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Through Discus, we have three new career or career-related databases:

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center
Learning Express Library
Vocations, Careers, and Technical Education Collection.

You can find all three databases on the Databases A-Z list:

To gather all our career resources together, there’s now a “Career Information” page which is linked on the Research by Subject page.

On the Where Can I Find page, you can find a link for “Graduate School Admission Exams” and linked it back to the section on the Career Information page that has the Learning Express Library, because this database allows you to take practice GMAT, GRE, LSAT, and MCAT exams.

Yes! We do have scanners.

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

There are 3 scanner stations on the 5th floor of Cooper Library, near the Help Desk outside Java City. You must login with your Clemson user ID and password to use them.

Two of the scanners are standard size and one is large format (11” x 17”).

Detailed instructions are posted by each scanner. Read more about the scanners here.
