The Clemson
University Libraries provide tax forms in the Cooper Library lobby. However,
no one on our staff is qualified to offer tax advice. There are
several places (in addition to professional tax preparation services)
where you can get help:
The IRS
has several help options:
- Call
1-800-829-4477 to listen to pre-recorded messages covering about
150 tax topics.
- Call
1-800-829-1040 to speak to a person who can refer your call. The
hours are Monday - Friday from 7 am - 10 pm, and Saturdays from 10
am - 3 pm.
- You can
access the IRS web site 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. Not only can you download forms, but you can
also search publications by keyword, look at a list of Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ), send comments or request help by e-mail, and
view a variety of tools to help you calculate your taxes.
If you are
an international student, you may contact the Office of International
Programs and Students (OIPS) at 656-5589. They arrange to have people
available to answer tax questions, although they are not able to assist
individual students in preparing tax returns.
From February
1 - April 15th, the American Association of Retired People (AARP),
sponsors a free service available to people of all ages with middle
and low income, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
