2004/2005 Officers

Officers take office at the end of each spring meeting. In order to soften the transition, the first program of the new year (summer) is planned by the previous year's officers.

Officer Duties

President

• Preside at quarterly meetings
• Fill in if other officers are unable to meet their obligations
• Make sure a reminder mailing is sent out in January for dues renewals
• Create a nominating committee (at winter meeting)
• Arrange elections (at spring meeting)

Vice-President / President-Elect

• Plan quarterly meetings (most annual programs try to mix academic, public and special topics and locations, and should be scheduled on a mix of mid-week days).
• Write thank-you letters to speakers and hosts following each program
• Deliver program information to Secretary/Treasurer well in advance of each program
• Preside at meetings in the event President is not present

Secretary / Treasurer

• Maintain database and mailing list of membership
• Send out notifications of each quarterly meeting to members. Send minutes of past meeting & treasurers report with announcement/newsletter.
• Receive membership dues
• Maintain bank books for the association
• Pay bills incurred by the association
• Present past minutes and treasurers report at each meeting
• Record minutes of each meeting
